I have to make a decision in the next week or so whether I stay with ClearOS or move to another solution such as Nethserver. I have looked at Neth and in comparison with the simplicity of ClearOS, in my opinion, it is rubbish! I have a new Client who needs a solution and that solution MUST include the ability to run a website with PHP 8.2. At this moment in time I think that this is the only thing that I really need as a temporary fix for until the alleged ClearOS 9 is available, but I maybe wrong.

What I do not see on the Community Forum which I am happy to promote, get my head around and even help fund, is immediate solutions and fixes that will help keep ClearOS 7 on the road until a new version is available. I read about problems with Certificates and IMAP and that worries me. My own development environment does not need or suffer from these issues as I have multiple servers for hosting etc. and my ClearOS only acts as a Firewall. However my new Client will need a one stop solution and I am currently testing for that.

Please can we talk practicalities and work amongst ourselves to test and publish fixes to keep the show on the road until the glorious day when a ClearOS 9 is published.

First of all we need current Status on major facilities. Do they all work? Have we found problems? I know we have issues with CentOS 7 but there still seems to be losts of expertise out there to keep it going, without moving to Rocky or Alma.

When we have Status, then if there are things we can look to getting them fixed either FOC or pooling our financial resources to make things happen.

Overall, I feel that is what is missing is a community spirit. What I currently see, is just negativity.

Hey, guys, let's get together and solve this!

Believe it or not, today marks the first day since July 2022 that $1.00 has been received by ClearCenter or supporting companies for ClearOS Server-related services or support and this message string beginning marks the first time we have seen positive efforts both financially and from a community perspective. Have been waiting to see such positive energy. It would be nice for the negative folks to move on if they don't believe in what ClearOS Server and ClearOS Mobile stand for, dont let the door hit you on the way out and please don't come back to sling negativity.

We will quietly continue to build the future with like-minded folks who understand what IBM and Centralized Big Tech are doing with many secret combinations to take over identity Systems, Financial Systems, Health Systems, and even Governments.

You wonder why we don't talk much, it's because most will just think such talk is "conspiracy talk", but in time many will come to understand that true decentralization is key for humanity to gain its identity, voice, and control back.

We are happy to support your efforts Mark R.! :)

Thank you for your loyalty and commitment over the years for doing a solid review and comparison and then being willing to be a part of the solution! ClearOS Server will have a future and a bright one at that!

Much love!

M~

I get my updates from Nick Howitt who can be contacted at:
    clearos@howitts.co.uk
but I do have to pay for them. My ClearOS is totally up to date with upstream and all critical vulnerabilities have been patched.

It seems that Nick Howitt was banned soon after his post about the updates he could provide and a number of his posts were deleted.

How can you say Nethserver is rubbish, when it doesn't appear as if you've tried it? I run a website as well as a Nextcloud server for my business on an NS box. It has worked good from the get-go. I have extensive experience over the years with COS. I've got nearly a year of experience with Nethserver. While I would rather not have abandoned COS, NS has been a great alternative. Why would I support a project (i.e., COS) whose founders look to have abandoned it (all signs pointing to it anyway)? I was a paid business subscriber and feel put out.

    Hi Mark,

I don't think the community is the problem at the moment and it is also hard to be positive about Clear at the moment.
ClearOS 7 is without doubt a great package and runs very stable.
Only because there has been no post from Clear management (Michael) or uber any development for ages, people have left the forum and moved away from ClearOS to alternatives.

Speaking for myself, I have been supporting ClearOS (& Clarkconnect) for 15 years and have always contributed positively. I also hope there will be a sequel to ClearOS 7, but I am starting to lose hope

For PHP 8.2 on centos7 platform there are possiblities
    for example : https://computingforgeeks.com/how-to-install-php-8-2-on-centos-rhel-7/
